Vostochny port’s throughput jumped in October 2.23 times as much to 3,426,000 tons. Monthly volume of coal, coke (charge and anthracite) rose by 22.6% to 1,589,300 tons.
The launch of an oil terminal of Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC (within the jurisdiction of the VPA) contributed to the port’s positive results in the reporting period, the Port Authority said.
Vostochny (East) Port is the largest Russian deep-sea port in the Far East. It is located on the shores of unfreezing Wrangel Bay of the Japan Sea near the village of Vostochny to the south of Primorsky Territory, 30 km east off Nakhodka. The annual port’s throughput exceeds 18 million tons of cargo. Port Vostochny has 19 berths (4.7-km long, depths ranging from 6.5 to 16.5 meters). The port’s portfolio of assets includes one of the largest Russia's container terminal, a coal terminal and developed warehousing facilities. The port specializes in handling chemicals (fertilizers, methanol) and lumber. Its deep waters allow 150,000-dwt vessels with length 280m and breadth 40m to dock at the port. Last year, freight traffic volume via Vostochny Port fell by 8.14% y-o-y to 18,941,100 tons.
