Two companies to rival for icebreaker contract, Rosmorport says

State-run Rosmorport company announced, following the processing of tender applications, that two shipbuilding companies, United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC, St. Petersburg) and the Nordic Yards Holding GmbH (Germany) were admitted to bidding for contract for construction of a 25MW icebreaker, the Russian official website of public procurement said.

JSC Baltic Shipyard (St. Petersburg) and Maritime Ltd. (Kaliningrad) also had submitted applications for participation in the shipbuilding tender.

In September 2010, Rosmorport announced an open bidding for the state contract for construction of a 25MW diesel-powered icebreaker. According to Rosmorport, the shipbuilding contract may cost about 7.87bn rubles. Rosmorport plans to have a series of three diesel-powered icebreakers built by 2015.
