Port of Singapore’s throughput rises 6.7% in Jan-Oct, to 417,18m tons

In January – October, 2010, trade flows through the port of Singapore increased by 6.7% compared with the same period last year to 417,183,000 tons, the Port of Singapore Authority press release said. The volume of crude oil in the period fell 1.7% to 145,665 tons.

Container traffic in the ten recent months increased by 11.2% to 23,636,000 TEUs. In October 2010, container throughput was 2,392,000 TEUs, a 4.4% gain month-on-month.

Singapore is a city-state located on an island in Southeast Asia. Freight turnover of the port in 2009 totaled 472 million tons.
