USC to bid on newbuldings contract for Yamal

United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) plans to participate in the tender for the construction of an LNG Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility and the fleet for the development of Yamal, PortNews reports citing the USC press service. In particular, the Corp. expects to bag a contract for building ships, which will be operating at the projected new port of Sabetta, including icebreakers, LNG carriers and others.

In June 2010 Gazprom and Novatek entered into cooperation agreement for implementation of a project of construction of LNG production facilities based on Southern Tambeyskoye field as well as the creation and subsequent use for this purpose the infrastructure facilities at the territory of the Yamal Peninsula. The parties agreed to single out the South Tambeyskoye field as a pilot project for LNG-production facilities on the Yamal Peninsula.
 
The companies will be promoting participation in the given project of Russian producers of equipment, introducing advanced international technologies in building ice-class tankers and human resource development of the domestic oil and gas industry.
