DFDS has been hit by another fire on the car deck on one of its passenger vessels. On November 17, a fire broke out in the early morning hours on board the Pearl of Scandinavia under a sailing from Oslo to Copenhagen. Smoke was detected on car deck some four kilometers north west of the Kullen lighthouse, off Swedish Höganäs.
The fire was put out by the ship’s own firefighters team after a short while. The 651 passengers and crew members have been moved to the restaurant area awaiting the next step. It was in some stage planned to go to Höganäs, but at the moment it is most likely that the Pearl of Scandinavia will sail to Copenhagen. According to several news agencies it was a trailer that caught fire. The fire has brought DFDS to high alert again after the fire in October on the Ropax vessel Lisco Gloria in Fehmarnbelt on a voyage to Klaipeda.
