Pacific Basin Shipping to buy 12 cargo vessels for HK$26.2 billion

Pacific Basin Shipping Ltd  has announced plans to spend a total of HK$2.62 billion to purchase not more than 12 dry bulk carriers, according to a statement filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Six of the 12 vessels will each hold a carrying capacity of 35,000 tons and will cost HK$199 million, and the six vessels will be delivered by Jiangmen Nanyang Ship Engineering Co in the second half of 2012 and in the first half of 2013.
Another two such kind of vessels will cost a total of HK$398 million and will be delivered in the second half of 2013.
The remaining four transporters, each of which are designed to handle between 40,000 and 60,000 deadweight tons of cargo and will cost HK$256 million, will be constructed by Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc and will be delivered in 2013.
