The dispute about the interaction at Russian seaports of public and private pilots can be solved by creating a unified pilot public service, Vyacheslav Popov, the Chairman of the Federation Council Commission for the National Marine Policy said today at Russian Transport Week in Moscow, PortNews reports.
"At last, the dispute over the pilots rivalry will be resolved reasonably. There will be a unified state-run pilotage service," said Mr. Popov adding that the decision will put an end to those long-lasting court hearings and legal disputes between private and state-owned pilotage services.
Earlier, Rosmorport CEO Igor Rusu had said that Rosmorport would opt out of pilotage activities in favor of creation of a unified state pilotage service.
