During the period UCL’s investments in shipping assets will amount to 27.8 billion rubles, in shipbuilding - 2.4 billion rubles, in stevedore business - 15,6 billion rubles.
The investment in shipping segment will be directed for construction of 60 ships to increase traffic volume to 19 million tons (+62% from current figures).
In shipbuilding segment the money will be spent to increase the Holding’s output to 10 ships a year (+40% of existing capacity). The UCL’s funds set aside for stevedore business will be spent for upgrade of marine terminals and building new ones with a total handling capacity up to 67 million tons (+116%).

UCL’s stevedoring companies handle a wide range of goods including metals, coal, grain, sugar, and oil and petroleum products. Taken together, the operators of marine terminals of the Group, at the ports of St. Petersburg, Ust-Luga, Tuapse, Taganrog have a total area of indoor facilities and an open area of about 700,000 sq m, the total length of berths is about 10 km. Annual freight turnover of the UCL’s stevedoring assets exceeds 30 million tons.
The Group’s 146 vessels of total 456.1dwt (28 of them under Maltese and Cypriot flags, average vessel age – 19 years) are shipping seaborne cargo, primarily fertilizer, timber, lumber, steel, gravel, grain and other bulk and general cargo to the ports of Europe and the Nordic coast of Africa. The UCL Russian-flagged ships’ share in the Russian export shipment market reaches about 30%.
Transportation of dry cargo on rivers is carried out by 331 vessels (including 72 self-propelled vessels, 89 non-self steering barges, 67 tugs and 103 ships of the auxiliary fleet). The average age of vessels - 27 years. Proportion of UCL Holding on the market of river transport in the European part of Russia is estimated at 30%.
Petroleum products are transported by the Holding’s 11 tankers, 6 Volga class vessels, 22 oil barges and 3 specialized chemicals carriers. Average age of vessels - 24 years. The UCL’s share of shipments in the European part of Russia is nearly 15%.
