UCL Holding expects significant growth of its stevedores’ throughput, to 37.8m tons this year

Universal Cargo Logistics Holding (UCL Holding) forecasted a growth in the segment of stevedoring business up to 37.8 million tons this year, the Holding’s press release said.

In particular, the projected volume of handling of oil and petroleum products by the UCL’s operators might be 14.4 million tons by this year-end (1.4m a year earlier), 8.7 million tons of coal (+24%), 5.6 million tons of ferrous metals (+16, 6%), 2.6 million tons of nonferrous metals (+8%), 2 million tons of fertilizers (+42.8%) and 1.2 million tons of grain (up 1.7 times).

The stevedore assets of UCL Holding include JSC Sea Port St. Petersburg, JSC Tuapse Commercial Sea Port, Universal Handling Complex (Port of Ust-Luga), Taganrog Commercial Seaport.

UCL’s stevedoring companies handle a wide range of goods including metals, coal, grain, sugar, and oil and petroleum products. Taken together, the operators of marine terminals of the Group, at the ports of St. Petersburg, Ust-Luga, Tuapse, Taganrog have a total area of indoor facilities and an open area of about 700,000 sq m, the total length of berths is about 10 km. Annual freight turnover of the UCL’s stevedoring assets exceeds 30 million tons.
