Sergei Chenchik did not give the profit figures, saying only that it could reach several million rubles. The Corp. CFO said that the USC’s shipbuilding assets now include several unprofitable shipyards, which affect the financial performance of USC as a whole.
Earlier reports said that USC finished 2009 with a profit of 92 million rubles. "This is too little with our turnover of 150 billion rubles, but much better than 9 billion loss for the year 2008. This is the first year that we ended up with a profit," USC President & CEO Roman Trotsenko said in May at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
United Shipbuilding Corporation, founded in 2007, incorporates three regional shipbuilding centers: JSC Western Shipbuilding Center (St. Petersburg), JSC Northern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Severodvinsk), JSC Far Eastern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (Vladivostok), as well as leading marine design offices. USC is also forming the Southern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair.
