Finnlines announces further expansion of its successful RoPax liner service TransRussiaExpress. With effect from 26.11.2010 the number of weekly departures will increase to three. Each Friday from Lübeck “Translubeca“ (1,750 lane metres – 19,0 knots - 84 passengers) will be deployed on the route Lübeck-Ventspils-Helsinki-St.Petersburg-Ventspils-Lübeck, forming the ideal addition to the existing Wednesday and Saturday departures covering continuously increasing demand to Russia and the Baltic states. By deploying this vessel together with the sister ships“Transeuropa“ and “Transrussia“ (each 3,200 lane metres - 21 knots - 124 passenger capacity) TRE can offer its customers 8.500 lane metres in each direction.
“This step represents the further consequent development of the expansion of Finnlines/Grimaldi activities towards Russia. The addition of a third departure to the TRE service is the reaction to the current market situation with its increasing cargo volumes and satisfying the increased space demands of our customers “Uwe Bakosch Präsident and CEO of Finnlines stresses. He also mentions that this improvement to the service follows the recent expansion of the Finnlines service from Bilbao via Antwerp and Helsinki and from Hull via Helsinki to St.Petersburg. “We strongly believe in the Russian market potential which has been taken into consideration with this liner policy.
