PetroChina to build refinery in Chongqing

PetroChina Co Ltd , China's largest oil producer, will build a refinery with an output capacity of 200,800 barrels per day in the southwestern city of Chongqing Municipality over the next five years, sources reported, citing Vice President Liu Hongbin as saying.

In addition, PetroChina will build a 300,000-metric ton oil reserve depot in Chongqing, Liu added.

The Chinese oil giant recently started construction on a liquefied natural gas project in Caofeidian, Tangshan of Hebei Province.

The LNG project will be funded by PetroChina and the government of Beijing and Hebei Province, which will invest a total of RMB 10 billion. The project, which will mainly receive gas from Australia and Qatar, will comprise a LNG terminal, an unloading wharf and gas pipelines, according to and earlier report from China Knowledge.
