Coal exports from Russia in January-March 2011 increased by 4.8% compared to the same period in 2010, to 23,889,700 tons, the Russian Ministry of Energy statistics said. In absolute terms the growth was 1,101,700 tons.
In March 2011 exports of coal amounted to 8,343,900 tons (down 2.1% or 182,700 tons vs last year’s figures).
According to the Ministry in January-March 2011 Russia produced 81,722,500 tons of coal (-2.2% over the same period last year), in March – 27,966,500 tons (-4.7%).
In 2010, Russia exported 96,458,900 tons of coal, 0.6% less than a year earlier.
