FCT box volume slightly up in Q1, to 256,750 TEUs

Container throughput of St. Petersburg-based First Container Terminal (FCT) in I quarter of 2011 amounted to 256,753 TEUs, which is 0.3% up from Jan-Mar., 2010, reported the press service of National Container Company (NCC manages FCT).

Container t traffic at FCT in March was 87,617 TEUs, down 12.1% from March 2010). NCC said the modest monthly result was largely due to unfavorable ice conditions in the Gulf of Finland.  The terminal loaded onto ships 42,596 TEUs of exported containers and unloaded 45,021 TEUs of imported ones. Reefer containers shipments totaled 13,831 TEUs. In March, the terminal handled 53 vessels, the average turnover per vessel – 1,653 TEUs.

Monthly container throughput of CJSC Logistica-Terminal amounted to 8,031 TEUs (4,112 boxes).
