South Korea's SPP Shipbuilding Co Limited said that it has won an order from a Turkish company to build five bulk carriers, Yonhap News reports.The order marks the company's first overseas order since SPP Group merged its shipbuilding subsidiaries, SPP Shipbuilding and SPP Plant & Shipbuilding, at the beginning of the year.
Under its latest order, SPP will build one Supramax weighing over 82,000 tonnes and four Handysize bulk carriers, each weighing around 35,000 tonnes.
As of the end of February 2011, the company held 133 ships totaling 2.38 million compensated gross tonnes on its order book.
