The volume of containers moved by TransContainer in January-March, 2011 increased by 23.5% from the same period of 2010, to 313,200 TEUs, the company's press service said. The Q1 results were generated largely by imports volume carried by the operator, which soared 63.3% to 51,500 TEUs, the company said.
In first-quarter container volume carried by the operator on domestic services rose by 13.9% to 179,100 TEUs. The share of international traffic in total container throughput of the company in the reporting period increased by 42.8% from 38% a year earlier.
