Tuapse CSP’s cargo volume in Q1, 2011 unchanged, at 4,9m tons

Cargo throughput of JSC Tuapse Commercial Sea Port (TMTP) in January-March, 2011 amounted to about 4,9 million tons, which corresponds to the volume figures posted a year ago, the stevedore company's press service said.

Imports traffic increased by 13%, reaching 120,600 tons, thanks to commissioning in late 2010 the rolling cargo terminal. In Jan-Mar., 2011 the Ro-Ro terminal handled 25,100 tons of fruits and vegetables in the trailers. Handling of raw sugar, the major imported cargo, dropped by 9 percent to 94,300 tons.

First-quarter exports volume was down 1% to 4,7 million tons, while shipment of export coal rose 2% to 851,000 tons. The company handled the same volume of petroleum products as a year before, 3,8 million tons. The port’s grain terminal launched in Q1, 2010, transshipped 81,500 tons of grain cargo.

In Jan-Mar, 2011 the operator handled 239 ships (103 – at the oil terminal, 136 - in dry cargo area), and 15,300 rail cars.

JSC Tuapse Commercial Sea Port (TMTP), founded in 1994, is the main stevedore company operating at one of the largest ports of Russia - the Port of Tuapse. UCL Holding (65.06%) and Russian Government (25%) are major stockholders of TMTP JSC. In 2010 the stevedore handled 18,5m tons of cargo.
