Freight traffic passing through the Port of Vostochny (excluding crude exports volume at Kozmino Terminal) in January-March, 2011 increased by 19.3% from the same period last year, to 5,47 million tons, the Port Authority told PortNews.
The three-month volume of coal, coke, including charge and anthracite, grew by 19.4% - to 4,356,000 tons. Handling of mineral fertilizer was down by 12% - to 192,500 tons, exports of oil products rose 23% to 183,800 tons. Container trade rose as much as 1.7 times to 78,320 TEUs.
Freight turnover in March (excluding Kozmino figures) grew by 22.7% compared with March last year, to 2,12 million tons of different cargoes. Exports of coal, coke, including anthracite coal and charge, increased by 20.9% to 1,77 million tons.
Port Vostochny (East Port) is the year-round navigable port located in Russia’s Primorsky Territory on the Japan Sea coast, 20 km from the terminus of Trans-Siberian Railroad - the city of Nakhodka. The port can handle vessels with draft up to 15,5 m, length - 280 m and breadth - 40 m. In 2010, the port's cargo throughput increased by 7% year-over-year, to 20,34 million tons.
