Vanino port’s Q1 cargo volume is down 5.9% to 1,38m tons

Cargo throughput of JSC Port Vanino in January-March, 2011 decreased by 5.9% compared to the same period of 2010, to 1,382,700 tons, the stevedoring company reports.
 
In March, the company handled 457,400 tons of cargo, 24% down from last year’s figures.

In the reporting period JSC Port Vanino handled 712,500 tons of exports (-2.5%), including 419,000 tons of coal, 45,700 tons of aluminum, 205,100 tons of round wood and 37,300 tons of timber. First-quarter volume of handled imports totaled 324,300 tons (+5.4%), from which alumina amounted to 290,800 tons.

Short sea trade cargoes dropped by 44,4%, to 71,200 tons. The Vanino-Kholmsk ferry service transported 274,700 tons (-9%). Container throughput amounted to 2,436 TEUs

The stevedore handled 256 vessels, including 137 ferries and 15,500 rail cars.

JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) is the major operator of Port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory). The port is a gateway for trade flows between Russia and Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. Vanino also handles imports shipped to the northern regions of Russia. The port operates the waterfront of about 2.5-km with three specialized cargo handling facilities. In 2010 throughput of Port Vanino Port rose to about 6 million tons (+0.2% yoy).
