Port of Temryuk’s cargo volume rises 8.5% in Q1, to 507,500 tons

Cargo throughput of the port Temryuk in the first quarter of 2011 increased by 8.5% compared to the same period last year, to 507,460 tons, the Port Authority said. In the reporting period the port handled 212 cargo ships versus 155 vessels a year earlier.

Exports flow handled by Temryuk port rose by 1.5% to 452,800 tons, imports increased almost by 3.3 times to 24,190 tons, coastal traffic volume totaled 30,500 tons. In the reporting period, the stevedores Port Mechel-Temryuk LLC and Temryukmortrans LLC handled major volume of cargo.
 
Port of Temryuk is located on the Taman shore of the Azov Sea. The port handles at its berths (waterfront – 1,200 m) primarily general cargoes, round timber, lumber, metal, as well as bulky goods and food.  In 2010, the port’s cargo throughput fell 7.4% year-over-year, to 1,9 million tons.
