Aker nets Daewoo driller deal

The oilfield services player is to deliver the complete equipment packages for the ultra-deepwater ships next year, a statement read on Wednesday.Aker did not reveal the identity of the owner behind the order for the drillship pair but said they are due for delivery in the final quarter of 2013. This makes it likely they belong to the Norwegian group itself, which penned a $1.2 billion order for two units earlier this year.
UK shipbroker Clarksons lists South Korean builder DSME as building a dozen drillships with only three being delivered towards the end of 2013 - Aker’s pair and one for Atwood in September that year.
“Each delivery has a contract value of about $115 million, and includes options for additional equipment and services,” Aker’s statement on Wednesday read.
“Aker Solutions will handle all major aspects of the delivery, from engineering and procurement to installation and commissioning.”
When Aker signed for the drillships in January it left two optional contracts at DSME.
