Regional Govt focuses on border control regime in Ust-Luga

The regional Council on marine and river transportation activities of the government of Leningrad region recommended that Customs and Border Control agencies for the North-West region to take a decision on the regime of Ust-Luga customs post, the press service of the regional government said. Sergey Bogachev, Deputy CEO for ferry service of Baltic Fleet Ltd. reported at the meeting on Ust-Luga - Baltiysk – Sassnitz ferry service.

"For years of the ferry service exposed the problem of customs clearance and infrastructure at the ports of Ust-Luga and Kaliningrad. The cargo delivered to Kaliningrad, should not be considered as goods passing through a foreign country, and customs clearance of goods takes a considerable amount of time. While, the ferry works quickly. The Customs schedule does not allow processing of cargo around the clock. If you they shift to around-the-clock operation, the cargoes could be cleared much faster," Sergey Bogachev was quoted as saying.
