A Texas jury decided Thursday that Maersk Contractors USA Inc. infringed two offshore drilling patents held by Transocean Offshore Deepwater Drilling Inc. and awarded Transocean $15 million, Law360 reports.
The jury concluded that Maersk was liable for infringement because it sold a drilling rig that infringed the patents to Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC. The jury also rejected Maersk's claims that the patents were obvious.
