MOL will upgrade its Singapore-Nhava Sheva-Karachi Service linking Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent, starting in May, Journal of Commerce reports.
The Japanese ocean carrier will divide the weekly service into two separate loops, called the NCX and KPX, to cater to the growing trade demand within the intra-Asia region.
The NCX rotation will be Shanghai, Da Chan Bay, Hong Kong, Singapore, Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru), Port Kelang, Singapore, and back to Shanghai.
The new service will deploy four vessels of 2,500 20-foot equivalent units capacity, offering direct connections between Shanghai and Shenzhen, China, and Nhava Sheva, India’s largest container port.
The first vessel sailing on the NCX will be from Shanghai on May 19.
The KPX, deploying three 2,500-TEU vessels, will call Singapore, Pipavav, Karachi, Colombo, Penang, Port Kelang, and back to Singapore.
The first vessel sailing on the KPX is scheduled to be from Singapore on May 27.
The existing NKX rotation is Port Kelang, Singapore, Nhava Sheva, Karachi, Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, and Port Kelang.
