Yuzhny port's throughput grows 37% to 13.1 million tons

Cargo volume handled at Ukraine-based Port of Yuzhny increased in January-July of this year by 37% from a year earlier, and by 12% versus planned figure, to 13 175 000 tons, the company said Monday.

During the reporting period the port handled 522 ships and 109.500 rail cars.

In July, Yuzhny terminals handled 683 million tons of cargo, up 24% over last year’s numbers. 

 

State-owned Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port founded in 1978 is located on the northwest coast of the Black Sea, in the ice-free Small Adzhalyksk (Grygoryivsky) estuary, 30 km northeast of Odessa. The port is connected to the sea by a 3km-long, 14m-deep approach canal. In 2010, cargo throughput of the port of Yuzhny fell 17.79% year-over-year to 17838 million tons.
