South Korean ports' H1 throughput up 10.3% to 10.5 million TEUs

South Korean ports handled in the first half of this year 10.5 million TEUs, a 10.3-percent growth year-over-year, Shipping Online reports.

The leading Busan port handled 7.87 million TEUs, up 13% from a year earlier. Gwangyang port's box throughput rose 1.5% to 1.04 million TEUs, Incheon - was up 2.2% to 960,000 TEUs.

Overall national cargo volume increased 7.1% to 637.4 million tons and import-export throughput went up 10% to 6.59 million TEU, transshipment cargo volume increased 10.4% to 3.68 million TEUs while coastal cargo volume went up 30% to 230,000 TEUs.
