For the last seven month Vostochny Port JSC handled 9 657 500 tons of different cargoes, a 12 percent increase compared with the same period of last year, the stevedore company said.
In July, 2011, Vostochny port terminals handed 1 478 600 tons, which is also 12 percent more than a year before.
In January-July, coal exports through the VP’s Specialized Coal Terminal (PPC-3) rose 11% to 7 890 400 tons. In July, the terminal handled 1 190 500 tons of coal, a 21 percent growth.
Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPC-1) for the seven-month period handled 1 767 100 tons of cargo, up 18% year-on-year. In July, the PPC-1 showed a 9 percent increase to 288 200 tons of cargo.
Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating at the port of Vostochny. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment. Currently, coal exports account for nearly 95% of total throughput of the company.
The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Transshipment Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. The company owns a fleet of powerful tugboats able to berth 150000dwt vessels.
In 2010, the stevedore handled 14 700 300 tons of cargo (+1%), while Universal Terminal’s throughput rose by 21% year-over-year to 2 802 600 tons.
