Maersk Line will seek a general rate increase on cargo shipped from the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to Europe, effective Sept. 1, Journal of Commerce reports. The planned increase will be $200 per 20-foot and $400 per 40-foot container.
“In order to continue offering our broad portfolio of services and high level of reliability, it will be necessary for us to implement general rate increases,” Maersk said.
The increase comes in addition to a $250 per-TEU rate hike the Denmark-based carrier implemented on the same route that came into effect July 1.
