Keppel bags Transocean rig building option

Rig builder Keppel FELS has bagged a repeat order from Transocean Offshore Deepwater Holdings to build a jack-up rig worth $195m, Seatrade Asia online reports. Transocean exercised its option following its order of two jack-ups from KFELS in February.

“We have developed a winning collaboration with Transocean over the years through numerous projects,” said Wong Kok Seng, managing director of KFELS.

The jack-up will be delivered in the third-quarter of 2013. It will be capable of drilling at a depth of 23 metres, allowing for coverage of a larger well pattern.
