Murmansk Commercial Port takes delivery of two loaders L-548

OJSC Murmansk Commercial Sea Port (MCS) has acquired two new wheel front end loaders L-548 manufactured by Liebherr with a bucket capacity of 3.4 cbm. The loaders have been delivered to the port, the company said.

The loaders will be engaged in removal of coal and other bulk cargoes from warehouses and railway tracks.

The loaders were purchased in line with the 2011 program for the acquisition of basic handling equipment. The company plans before the end of the year to acquire clamshell buckets for handling coal, buckets for mini loaders for handling of iron ore concentrate, forklifts, roll trailers, a container spreader ISO-40, and mount the new one and upgrade two old gantry cranes.

OJSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport founded in 1994 now ranks forth largest Russian port by the volume of handled cargo and second largest port, next to St. Petersburg, of Russia’s North-West.
The stevedore company operates 17 berths of total length of about 3,000 meters. The berths depths allow accommodation of vessels with length of over 265 meters and breadth of 15,5 meters. In 2010, MCS’ cargo throughput was over 12,8 million tons.
