ICTS expects to complete construction on first phase of terminal at Port of La Plata next year

International-Container-Terminal-Services-ICTSIFirst phase of terminal will add 450,000 TEUs of capacity to Port of La Plata. International Container Terminal Services will complete the first phase construction of a terminal at the Port of La Plata in Argentina next year, Journal of Commerce reports. Located on the River Plate just outside Buenos Aires on a 101-acre site, the new facility will boast draft of 34 feet, berth length of 600 metres and capacity of some 450,000 20-foot equivalent units annually in the first phase.
The Philippines-listed company said the first $250 million phase, involving civil works, equipment and dredging, will be completed in the second half of 2012.
The global container terminal operator won the concession to build the terminal in 2008 via its subsidiary Tecplata. ICTSI increased its stake in Tecplata to 85 percent in last August.
