Shanghai port's July container throughput volumes rose to a record monthly high of 2.9m teu, according to statistics from the Shanghai International Port (Group), Seatrade Asia online reports. Last month's volumes increased 10.5% from 2.62m teu seen in June and 12.7% from 2.57m recorded in July 2010.
In the first seven months of this year, the world's largest container port handled volumes of 18.21m teu compared to 16.43m teu in the same period of last year.
The Chinese port moved a total of 29.07m teu in 2010, overtaking Singapore which registered 28.43m teu.
