Crude oil exports from Russia passing through the terminal in Kozmino port rose nearly 3 percent in January-July of 2011 to 8.79 million tons, the Kozmino Port Authority said.
In July, the crude volume dropped by 7.2 percent from the same period in 2010, to 1.29 million tons.
Special oil seaport Kozmino was built at the end point of the ESPO oil pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean) in Primorsky Territory. While the ESPO project is under construction the crude oil is being delivered to the terminal by the railroad. Spetsmornefteport Kozmino’s capacity is 15 million tons of oil a year, expandable to 30m t/y. The first crude oil cargo was shipped from the terminal on Dec. 28, 2009. Crude oil volume exported through Kozmino in 2010 totaled 15.34 million tons. The commodity is exported largely to the Asia-Pacific region.
