Cargo traffic at Ukraine-based Nikolayev Commercial Sea Port rose by 15 percent to 5 million tons as of August 11, 2011, the Company said Friday.
In January-July the port handled 4 821 400 tons of different cargo and 520 cargo vessels and 57 115 rail cars.
State-owned Nikolayev Commercial Sea port was founded in 1789. The port, located at the mouth of the Southern Buh River, is connected with the Black Sea by a 44-mile shipping canal. The port is a key transportation hub in Ukraine’s southern region. Nikolayev port specializes in handling general and bulk cargoes, grain, ore, metal, pipes, etc. The port has indoor and outdoor warehouses and operates 15 berths with rail side tracks.
