For the January-July period, 24.8 million tonnes of bunker fuel were sold, up 5.3 per cent on-year. A total of 40.85 million tons of bunker fuel were sold in Singapore in 2010.
Meanwhile, the number of oil, gas and chemical tankers passing through the port of Singapore in July was up 4.1 per cent from the previous month, and overall tonnage was 6.4 per cent higher, the MPA said.
The port handled a total of 1,894 tankers with a combined gross tonnage of 53.49 million metric tonnes last month, up from 1,820 vessels and a gross tonnage of 50.29 million in June, the MPA said.
Of the tankers handled by the port last month, 1,347 were oil tankers, up from 1,279 in June.
