Keel-laying ceremony for the third self-propelled dry cargo vessel of Project RSD49 was held today, August 15 at Nevsky Shipyard, the company said Monday.
The ship was ordered by OJSC North-Western Fleet. The project was developed by Marine Engineering Bureau-Design St. Pb in conjunction with NWF and the shipbuilder.
According to the terms of the contract, Nevsky Shipyard will build a series of 10 ‘river-sea’ dry cargo carriers of about 7000DWT.
Self-propelled dry-cargo ship of Project RSD49 is intended for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and oversized cargoes and dangerous goods of classes 1, 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, IMDG Code and Annex B of SC in the Caspian Sea and the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Baltic, White and North Seas, including voyages around Europe and in the Irish Sea in winter.
The RSD49 vessels should become the largest of cargo ships by deadweight, which fit the dimensions of the Volga-Don Canal. Two CPPs with a diameter of 2600 mm, two outboard counterweight rudders and 200 kW bow thruster ensure the movement and maneuverability of the vessel.
The RSD49 series lead ship was laid on December 14, 2010, the second - on April 20, 2011.
