A flotilla of Russian warships is bound for the Irbe Strait in the Baltic Sea to join international minesweeping drills, due between August 19 and September 3, the Voice of Russia reports.
Warships from Russia, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Poland will be participating in the Open Spirit-2011 international exercises in the territorial waters of Latvia as part of an EU program to clear Baltic seabed of WWI and WWII mines.
