Polish-German joint venture to build zl.800-million terminal in Gdansk

Polish treasury-owned PERN Przyjazn, a petroleum logistics firm, is expected to sign a joint venture agreement with German petrolium logistics company Oiltanking in September. The deal will pave the way for the construction of an oil and chemical storage and transhipment terminal worth zl.800 million in Gdansk, reports Puls Biznesu.

PERN will have to ask the European Commission for permission before it can sign the contract, the newspaper added.

According to PERN Przyjazn's president Robert Soszynski, the German partner is indispensable.

"We won't manage on our own, especially since the company is taking care of a few other investments," Mr Soszynski told Puls Biznesu. He also believes there is a lack of expertise for such a project in Poland.

The German company will be responsible for financing, building and using the terminal.

The building of the terminal is set to begin next year.
