Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a decree giving the green light to privatization of nuclear icebreakers fleet, the berths intended for handling the vessels as well as repair and maintenance enterprise “Atomflot”. The appropriate changes are made to Russia’s program of privatization of state and municipal enterprises.
However, diesel-electric icebreakers remain in the list of state-owned objects.
Currently, all Russian nuclear icebreakers are on the balance of Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Atomflot", part of the state corporation "Rosatom".
