Sembcorp Marine secures FPSO conversion project
Sembcorp Marine's wholly-owned Jurong Shipyard secured a S$130m ($99.1m) project to convert a VLCC to a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Modec, Seatrade Asia online reports. The modified VLCC Tar II will be delivered to OSX Leasing for deployment in offshore Brazil, located in water depths of approximately 110 metres.
The FPSO is designed to operate for 20 years without dry-docking and it will have production capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of 1.6m barrels of oil.
