STX OSV secures PSV order from Troms Offshore Supply
STX OSV Holdings Limited has secured a new contract for the design and construction of one Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) for Troms Offshore Supply AS, MarineLog reported.
The vessel will be of STX OSV's PSV 08 design,which includes Clean Design notation and environmentally friendly diesel-electric propulsion. The vessel, scheduled for delivery in March 2013, will have a deck space of 830 sq.m and will be approximately 81 m long with a deadweight of 3,800 tons.
The hull will be built at the STX OSV Braila shipyard in Romania, and towed to STX OSV Brevik in Norway for outfitting, commissioning and delivery.
Troms Offshore has an option with the shipbuilder for an additional vessel of similar design with delivery May 2013.
STX OSV already has one PSV 09 under construction for Troms Offshore Supply. This vessel will be delivered from STX OSV Søviknes, Norway, in 2012.
Privately-owned Troms Offshore currently operates a fleet of 15 offshore service vessels from its home port in Tromsø. The company is establishing a fleet of large, environmentally friendly vessels fit for operation in the North Sea. Based on its expertise and experience from years of operating in Arctic waters and demanding ice conditions, Troms Offshore is seeking to take a leading position in the offshore supply service market as activity picks up in the Northern and Arctic areas. The officers and crew on the company's owned vessels are mainly recruited from North Norway.
