Vostochny’s cargo traffic rises15 percent to 12.7 million tons

Throughput of JSC Vostochny Port in January-September 2011 increased by 15% compared to the same period of 2010, to 12,665,300 tons, the company said.

 

In September, the stevedore company’s terminals handled 1,347,000 tons of cargoes, a 30 percent gain from last year.

 

Nine-month volume of coal exported from Specialized Coal Terminal (PPK3) rose 16 percent to 10,346,400 tons. In September, coal exports soared as much as 40 percent to 1.1 million tons.

 

Shipments of cargo from Universal Terminal (PPK1) for nine recent months increased by 11 percent from a year earlier, to 2,318,900 tons. In September, the terminal handled 274,000 tons (+1%).

 

Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating in the port of Vostochny. The company handles largely exported coal produced in Kemerovo region. Exports account for nearly 95 percent of total throughput. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal (PPK-3) and Universal Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. Vostochny Port operates its own port fleet of harbor tugs to handle 150,000dwt ships.  In 2010, the stevedore handled 14,700,300 tons (+1%), while Universal Handling Terminal’s throughput rose by 21% year-over-year to 2,802,600 tons.
