Vostochny and Kozmono throughput up 11.3pct to 29.3 million tons
Exports / imports handled at the terminals of Vostochny port, including the Kozmino-based Export Oil Terminal for 9 months of this year grew by 11.3% compared to the same period of last year, to 29.3 million tons, the Association of Sea Commercial Ports (ASOP) statistics said.
Vostochny Port (East Port) is the year-round navigable and the deepest port of the Russian Far East region. The port is located on the coast Japan Sea, 20 km from the terminus of Trans-Siberian Railroad - the city of Nakhodka. Vostochny is able to handle vessels with draft of up to 15,5 m, length - 280 m and breadth - 40 m. The port’s stevedore companies operate16 cargo berths, a few auxiliary berths at the terminals for handling coal, containers, fertilizer, methanol, timber, bulk and general cargo. In 2010, the port's cargo throughput (without Kozmino's figures) increased by 7% year-over-year, to 20,34 million tons.
