Emirates Shipping joins India-China Service

Emirates Shipping Line will expand its intra-Asia network by buying slots on a new weekly service between India and China that is slated to start Oct. 29, the Journal of Commerce reported.

The new service, to be marketed by ESL as the Korea-India Service, will be operated by a consortium of NYK Line, Evergreen Line and Hanjin Shipping, deploying five vessels with capacities ranging from 2,500 to 2,800 20-foot equivalent units. NYK will phase in three vessels and the other two partners, one each.

The KIS rotation will be Pusan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru), Pipavav, Colombo, Singapore, Hong Kong, and back to Pusan, offering a 35-day round-trip voyage. The first westbound sailing is from Pusan.
