OOCL revenue slips despite higher liftings

Orient Overseas Container Lines (OOCL) unveiled the lifting of larger volume of containers but revenue retreated in the quarter ended 30 September 2011, Seatrade Asia online reports. The box carrier's unaudited operational updates show container liftings at 1.32m teu for its third-quarter compared to 1.23m teu in the same quarter of 2010.
Total revenue, however, decreased by 8.3% to $1.44bn in the period compared to $1.57bn a year ago.
“With an increase of 13.9% in loadable capacity, the overall load factor was 5.1% lower than the same period in 2010. Overall average revenue per teu dropped by 14% compared to the third-quarter of last year,” OOCL said in a statement on Thursday.
