Transport complex companies of Odessa region carried 30.8 million tons of cargo in January-October 2006 (-2.2% against year-on-year result), Ukraine’s state regional administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Railway transport decreased cargo volumes by 0.6% to 20.5 million tons, water transport – by 10.6% to 5.5 million tons, while motor transport demonstrated 2% growth to 4.8 million tons.
The territory of Odessa region is crossed by two international transport corridors including the only water corridor - along Danube. Commercial seaports of the region cover 80% of Ukraine’s sea transportation volumes.
