Rolls-Royce Marine India in talks with Indian oil companies for marine equipment

Rolls-Royce Marine India Private Ltd, a major player in designing, development, support of products and systems for commercial and naval customers, is in talks to provide equipment for 30 vessels of Oil & Natural Gas Corporation of India (ONGC). The equipment includes products like CP propellers, high lift rudders, tunnel thruster, controls, diesel engines and deck machinery.Rolls-Royce Marine is also in talks with Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) and Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) for the same.At present, Rolls Royce Marine has orders of over Rs 400 crore for 17 vessels from Cochin, Bharti and ABG Shipyards. These orders are being executed. The company is looking for a business of over Rs 800 crore within the next year from the domestic market.

According to company officials, “The offshore oil and gas industry is a market where energy and marine come together to serve a single customer. In India, oil companies like ONGC, along with GAIL and RIL, have also shown interest in procuring equipment for their vessels. ONGC has shown interest for 30 vessels, while we are also in talks with GAIL and RIL for another 30," added the officials.

“As the offshore sector in India is demanding more sophisticated vessels, we are ready to provide the high degree of automation and special equipment to accord better service than others. We found that there would be a huge demand for our equipment as offshore business will go up in the country,” company officials added.

At present, the company is working towards setting up of collaborative programs for the manufacture, supply and future support of motion control equipment, shafting and propellers, integrated platform management systems (IPMS) and ship designing in the country.The company's new series of UT design offshore vessels, which are most transport efficient than earlier generations, have secured a significant order book despite a weaker market.
