Cargo turnover of Izmail Commercial Seaport (Ukraine) totaled 5.606 million tons in January-October 2006 (+2.2%, or +121 thou tons against year-on-year result), RZD-Partner reports. A year ago the growth was 0.7% (+40 thou tons). The dynamics may be attributed to progress in transit loading of the port, which amounted over the reported period to 1.499 million tons (+27.3% against year-on-year result) or 26.6% of total cargo turnover of the company. Transit growth in January-October 2005 was 14.7%. At the same time, export decreased by 4.7% to 4.046 million tons, import – by 50.6% to 19.3 thou tons. In 2005 the dynamics of export and import was -3.1% and +9.5% correspondingly.
Transshipment of loose goods amounted in January-October to 4.352 million tons (-1.8%, y-o-y), including that of transit – to 1.337 million tons (+35.5%). This type of goods consisted mainly of coal (1.526 million tons, +3.2%), including 1.252 million tons of transit (+28.5%), and ore cargo (2.577 million tons, -5.3%), including 2.574 million tons of export (-5.3%). The port handled 1.089 million tons of metal cargo (+23.1%), including export of 974 thou tons (+30.5%). The main type of cargo was rolled metal – 917 thou tons; cast iron – 36 thou tons. The share of rolled metal in transit decreased by 29.7% to 76.7 thou tons, cast iron - +29.1% to 31.9 thou tons. Transportation of liquid bulk cargo (oil products) amounted to 1.4 thou tons, export made 100%.
