Swiber wins $36m in charter contracts

Swiber inked charter contracts worth approximately $36m in total, including options, for vessel chartering services in the Gulf of Mexico and Southeast Asia, Seatrade Asia online reports. The offshore support services provider said the contract wins entail vessel charters for general maintenance, supply services as well as transportation and installation of topsides. Vessel charter services will commence immediately and will continue into 2013.

The latest string of contract wins brings Swiber's order backlog to over $1.1bn.

“This contract win, which follows closely after a recent contract win breakthrough in the Middle East market, reflects a fast-growing international recognition of Swiber's excellence in delivery, even in complex environments,” said Francis Wong, group ceo and president of Swiber.

The US Energy Department recently projected that gulf oil production would expand from 1.3m barrels a day in 2011 to 2m barrels a day by 2020 driven by strong demand from both China and India.
