MSC to implement BUC on USA-Latin America trade

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced it will impose the Bunker Contribution (BUC) for all cargo shipped from the USA to Central America, Caribbean and South America West Coast, effective from April 15, 2012, the Company said Thursday.

The BUC charge will be as follows:

To the West Coast of South America:
From USD$ 430 to $455 per TEU

To Central America:
From $220 to $245 / TEU

To the Caribbean:
From $120 to $145 / 20'
From $215 to $265 / 40'

Geneva-headquartered Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) was founded in 1970. Now it is the world's second shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity. MSC's fleet, which operates in all major ports of the world, comprises 444 vessels and has a capacity of 1,925,000 TEUs.
